Rolex Oyster Perpetual for sale in NYC

No-date Oyster Perpetual models in 28, 31, 34, 36 and 41mm, including the colored lacquer dials of the 124300 and 126000, plus earlier 39mm and 36mm references, all in Oystersteel.

The foundation of Rolex

The Oyster Perpetual name joins the two inventions Rolex built its reputation on: the waterproof Oyster case of 1926 and the Perpetual self-winding rotor of 1931. The time-only Oyster Perpetual is the plainest expression of both. It has no date, no Cyclops and a smooth domed bezel, and it is the entry point to the Rolex catalog. That simplicity is the appeal: a clean dial, a well proportioned case and the same build quality as models that cost far more.

Sizes and dials

The current line runs 28mm, 31mm, 34mm, 36mm and 41mm, all in Oystersteel on the Oyster bracelet. Since 2020 the larger sizes have offered bright lacquer dials such as turquoise blue, candy pink, yellow, coral red and green alongside silver, black and bright blue. In 2023 Rolex added the Celebration dial, with multicolored bubbles on a turquoise base. Rolex rotates colors in and out of the line, so earlier ones can become harder to find.

Key references

The 124300 is the 41mm model and the 126000 the 36mm, both with the calibre 3230 and about 70 hours of reserve. The 124200 is the 34mm, and the 277200 and 276200 are the 31mm and 28mm. Before 2020, the 114300 was the 39mm Oyster Perpetual, the 116000 the 36mm and the 114200 the 34mm. The 114300 is worth knowing: its dark rhodium and red grape dials are distinctive, and some collectors prefer its proportions to the 41mm.

What to look for

Because the watch is so plain, condition shows. Look at the smooth bezel for dings and the lugs for heavy polishing. Lacquer dials can carry marks from careless handling, so inspect them in daylight. Confirm the dial color matches the reference and papers, since dial swaps are common on popular colors. Check the bracelet for stretch and the clasp for a firm close, and ask about service history. Box and papers add resale value, especially on colors Rolex no longer makes.

Prices are listed on every watch. Call or text to see Oyster Perpetual models in person by appointment in the Diamond District in Midtown Manhattan.

Questions

Rolex Oyster Perpetual questions

What size Oyster Perpetual should I buy?

Most men choose the 36mm or 41mm. The 36mm wears like a classic everyday watch, while the 41mm has a broad dial that reads large because of the slim bezel. The 34mm suits smaller wrists or anyone who likes a vintage scale, and the 31mm and 28mm are often chosen by women. The case design is the same across sizes, so fit is the main question.

What is the difference between the Oyster Perpetual and the Datejust?

The Datejust adds a date with a Cyclops magnifier and offers fluted bezels, Rolesor and the Jubilee bracelet. The Oyster Perpetual has no date and a smooth bezel and comes only in steel on the Oyster bracelet. The Oyster Perpetual is cleaner and lighter; the Datejust is dressier and more configurable. Build quality and water resistance are comparable.

Should I choose the 114300 or the 124300?

The 114300 measures 39mm, and the 124300 measures 41mm with the newer calibre 3230. The 124300 offers the bright lacquer dials, while the 114300 is known for its rhodium, blue and red grape dials. Some buyers find the 39mm better balanced, others want the larger dial. The 114300 often costs less, which can make it a smart pick.

Why are some Oyster Perpetual dial colors priced higher?

Demand follows color. Turquoise, candy pink, coral red, yellow and the Celebration dial drew more interest than silver, black and blue, and retail supply was limited. When Rolex drops a color from the line, supply on the market tightens further. Condition, papers and the exact reference also move the price, so compare pieces side by side before you decide.
